Rental Policy

Rental Agreement

Welcome to TillSense Rentals. Our rental service makes it easier for startups, local businesses, and event traders to access reliable cash registers, POS systems and POS hardware without the high upfront cost. Please read the following Rental Policy carefully, as it outlines how our rental service works. By renting from TillSense (Pty) Ltd, you (“Client”) agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Rental Period

 

  • The minimum rental period is 3 months.

  • The maximum rental period is 36 months (3 years).

  • After the minimum period, rentals may continue on a month-to-month basis with 30 days’ written notice to cancel.

  • Short-term rentals (e.g., events, markets, expos) are available under special daily or weekly rates.

2. Rental Fees & Payment

  • Rental fees are charged per month and must be paid in advance.

  • Payments are due before delivery, installation, or pickup.

  • Late payments may result in suspension of service or equipment collection.

3. Security Deposit

  • A refundable security deposit is required for each rental.

  • The deposit amount depends on the product’s retail value:

  • Basic Cash Register: R500–R750

  • POS Kit (Touchscreen + Scanner): R2,500–R4,000

  • Card Reader: R300–R500

  • Receipt Printer: R400–R600

  • Deposits are refunded within 14 business days after equipment is returned in good condition.

  • Any loss, theft, or damage beyond normal wear and tear may result in partial or full forfeiture of the deposit.

4. Delivery & Installation

  • Gauteng customers: Delivery and professional installation available.

  • Nationwide customers: Courier delivery available for basic cash registers and smaller devices.

  • Delivery and installation charges are quoted separately unless included in a rental package.

5. Equipment Care & Responsibility

  • Renters are responsible for the safe use, care, and security of the equipment while it is in their possession.

  • Equipment must not be tampered with, resold, or sub-leased.

  • The renter is liable for replacement costs in cases of theft, loss, or intentional damage.

6. Technical Support & Maintenance

  • All rentals include remote support during business hours.

  • On-site support is available in Gauteng (call-out fees may apply outside installation warranty).

  • If equipment fails due to a technical fault, TillSense will repair or replace it at no extra cost.

7. Ownership

  • All equipment remains the property of TillSense at all times.

  • Rentals do not grant ownership unless a Rent-to-Own agreement is specifically arranged.

8. Rent-to-Own Option

  • Selected rental products are available on a Rent-to-Own basis.

  • A portion of rental payments may be credited toward eventual ownership.

  • Rent-to-Own must be agreed upon in writing before the rental begins.

9. Returns

  • Equipment must be returned at the end of the rental in its original condition, with all accessories, manuals, and packaging.

  • Failure to return equipment may result in additional charges or forfeiture of the deposit.

10. Technical Support & Repairs:

  • Support hours: 08:0018:00 (business hours) plus 24/7 AI Support.

  • TillSense provides remote and on-site support for technical issues (call-out fees may apply).

  • If equipment fails due to a technical fault, TillSense will repair or replace it at no extra cost.

11. Termination & Equipment Return:

  • The Client may cancel the rental after the minimum term with 30 days’ written notice.

  • Early cancellations may result in a cancellation fee.

  • Equipment must be returned in its original condition, with all accessories and packaging.

  • Late returns may incur additional rental charges.

  • TillSense reserves the right to cancel the rental immediately if payments are overdue, equipment is misused, or policy terms are breached.

12. Liability & Indemnification:

  • TillSense is not responsible for business losses, data loss, or damages due to equipment failure or misuse.

  • The Client agrees to indemnify TillSense against any claims or liabilities arising from their use of the rented equipment.

13. Data Security & Privacy:

  • TillSense does not access or use Client business data stored on the POS system.

  • The Client is responsible for securing their own business data.

14. Governing Law & Amendments

  • These terms are subject to change. Updated terms will be available on www.tillsense.com.

  • This agreement is governed by the laws of South Africa, and any disputes shall be settled in Gauteng courts.

15 Ownership

  • All rented equipment remains the property of TillSense (Pty) Ltd.

  • Rent-to-Own options are available on selected products (subject to agreement in writing).

16. Agreement Confirmation

By renting a POS system from TillSense Company (Pty) Ltd, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
